Steps for Doing a Gantt of Gantts (Program Resource Plan) 1. Create an Excel Gantt of Gantt Chart by first creating thin columns across the top (like you did when making your original Gantt Chart), with the number of weeks (or months) extending from the first time period of your earliest project to the final time period of your latest project. 2. Next, go to each of your individual project Gantt charts and copy the resource/funds sheet (duplicate it to another sheet just behind the original one) and then highlight and color in all of the time slots taken up by each of the tasks - draw an outline around all of the shapes; this will be the shape of the Gantt Chart for this particular project. Note where each of the tasks begin and end, as well as how tall each of the combined tasks are at any given time. 3. Now, recreate that shape on your new Gantt of Gantt Chart, making sure to copy the outline of the shape (reproducing where the tasks begin and end in each row), this will show where the project begins, where it ends, and how much in the way of resources it requires (this is indicated by the vertical height of the shape.) 4. Do this for all of the projects, one by one, above and below the others, placing each beginning and ending of the project in the correct place on your Gantt of Gantt Chart. 5. Once you have completed this for each project you should be able to see which projects are most resource hungry and where resource (whether in terms of money/physical resources or personnel) are heaviest and where possible bottlenecks might be.
