
This course focuses on the application of specific curricular and pedagogical concepts relevant to the candidate’s licensure area in teaching music in middle and high schools. Students will learn at EMU and their respective practicum location the skills and knowledge needed to gain a firm footing as a music educator. Students will also network with each other throughout their practicum experience providing a shared resource to each other. The instructor and practicum teacher will tailor the course and practicum experiences to help each student align specific content, instructional methods, and concepts to the Standards of Learning (SOL) and National Association for Music Education (NAfME) curriculum standards and prepare each student for a career as a Music Educator. This course fulfills the EMU Core Creative Arts (CA) or Community Learning (CL) requirement.
