How do I import a course archive into Moodle?

< Previous | Main | Next >

Importing and Restoring are similar operations in Moodle. In this instance, you will be restoring a backup file (archive), rather than importing content directly.

On the course landing page, click the 'Restore' link in the Settings block of the left column.

If this is the first time you are performing this operation, you will need to locate the file by clicking the 'Choose a file ...' button. Previous backups and imported archives will appear in the 'Course backup' and/or 'User private backup' areas.

Use the File Picker to either upload an archive from outside of Moodle, or locate a previously backed-up archive within your personal repository.

Once the file is selected, click the 'Select this file' button.

You will be taken through a series of options to select for the data being restored. A secondary breadcrumb trail will display where you are in the process.

Once you have completed the process, the data should be available for this course.
