Page 39, Problem 1.25 Categorical variable display: Make a bar graph (using a spreadsheet or by hand) that reflects the data from problem 1.25. Notice that the problem gives us the percentages rather than the counts. Because the percentages necessarily add to 100%, you should be able to determine the percent to use for “other colors” even though it is not given.

Page 40, Problem 1.34a Quantitative variable display: Read pages 21 to 23 about constructing histograms to reflect quantitative variables. Make a histogram of the data contained in Table 1.4 on page 41. You can do this in Excel or by hand – it’s up to you – but remember, each bar in the histogram will represent a range (0 to 1, 1 to 2, and so on up to 6). Also remember that with histograms, unlike bar graphs, the bars are tight against one another to illustrate the numeric distribution of the data.
