A class survey of first-year students at a university asked, "About how many hours do you study during a typical week?" The mean response of the 463 students in the sample was 15.3 hours. Suppose we know that the study came from a simple random sample (assumption #1), and that study time is relatively normally distributed (assumption #2), with a known standard deviation (assumption #3) of 8.5 hours.
