To maximize the benefit to the student, the university assumes that the company will make every attempt to provide interns with a broad exposure to experiences related to the student’s goals, considering the nature of the training site. Furthermore the company supervisor functions as the intern's on-site instructor and should:

  1. Introduce the intern to appropriate company personnel and provide a general orientation to the company, its products, customers, services, policies, goals, problems, etc.
  2. Provide competent supervision for the intern or delegate such supervision to others in the company.
  3. Evaluate the intern’s working and learning on a continual basis.
  4. Help the intern integrate knowledge, theory, and practice.
  5. Consult with the faculty Internship Coordinator as often as necessary, either in person or via telephone, and keep the faculty coordinator advised of any developments needing attention.
