Academic Support Center [edit]
The Academic Support Center is an academic support and enrichment resource for all students and staff and offers course specific tutoring, study skill and time management coaching. The center also counsels and serves as advocates for students with special needs.
Auxiliary Services
The Auxiliary Services promotes and facilitates the use of the university’s campus facilities year-round.
Business Office
Cashier services are available Monday through Friday according to posted hours.
Career services offers confidential assistance and resources for students, faculty, staff and alumni who seek information on careers, development of a job search plan, resume preparation and graduate schools. Career Services also provides educational testing for students desiring college credit by examination.
Marketing and Communications
Marketing and Communications serves EMU by helping each department to share their stories and publicize their activities, with the intention of supporting the departments’ efforts to meet their goals toward fulfilling the EMU mission. For more information see: www.emu.edu/marketing .
Personal copies can be made on occasion using EMU copiers. Price for personal copies can be obtained from the help desk at extension 4357. Payment for personal copies and scanned copiers should be made to the business office.
Printing services are available in the Print Shop located in the Physical Plant building.
Disability Support Services (SDSS)
EMU is committed to working out reasonable accommodations for current and prospective students with documented disabilities to ensure equal access to the university and its related programs. The Coordinator of Student Disability Support Services can be contacted at x4233 for additional information on policy and procedure. The Academic Support Center (ASC) is located in Hartzler Library on the Third Floor.
Equipment and Facilities
Arrangements for automobiles and vans for authorized trips may be made through the physical plant secretary.
Physical plant handles requests for moving, maintenance and certain repairs upon receipt of an approved Work Request Form. Forms are available from the physical plant office.
Everyone is welcome to eat in the dining hall. For convenience and savings, a declining balance account (Lions Share) can be established by coming to the dining room. Pioneer also operates the snack shop in the University Commons.
Guest House Information and Reservation Policies
The Eastern Mennonite University Guest House is a service of EMU to the EMU community. It is available not only for visiting speakers and parents, but also for family reunions, church groups, and miscellaneous travelers. Contact Guest House at ext. 4280 or email guesthouse@emu.edu.
Health and Counseling Services
The services of the Health and Counseling Centers are primarily intended for students. The Health Center will see faculty and staff for an acute illness, travel immunizations and a minor occupational injury. Massage therapy services are also available to the entire EMU community.
Information Office (IO)
Staff in the Information Office serve the public, staff, faculty and students.
Both Windows and Mac environments are supported. Requests for assistance should be directed to the Help Desk, which is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more details on IS service and policies, go to http://www.emu.edu/is/ .
Institutional Research and Effectiveness (IR)
The office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness collects, analyzes, and reports data about the university to support decision making, planning, and effectiveness. The office coordinates and supports outcomes assessment efforts in all academic, educational support and administrative units of the university.

Menno Simons Historical Library and the EMU Archives
The Menno Simons Historical Library and the EMU Archives are rich sources of materials, both historical and contemporary.
Most departments and offices are assigned mailboxes either in the Campus Center or in their respective location (e.g., Physical Plant Office, Science Center). Institutional mail will be posted and stamped by the Post Office with departments charged accordingly. Mailing supplies are available for purchase, and a fax machine is located in the Post Office and is available for departmental and personal use. The phone number is (540) 432-4444
Room Reservation Scheduling Guide
Most reservations are made in Astra, the university scheduling system. For assistance with Astra, contact the helpdesk. Physical plant can also provide assistance with room reservations
Student Employment
A student is determined “eligible” for on-campus employment as part of his or her financial aid package. Eligibility amounts are on a per-semester basis and are uniformly set for all students based on available funds. A predetermined portion of student employment resources is allocated to each division. The department will determine the most appropriate placement of student employees. Contact the Student Employment Office for more information.
All domestic and international toll calls and directory assistance calls made from your extension are recorded and charged to your department by the call accounting system. Your department head receives a monthly printout showing each call and the cost. Collect calls (incoming) should NOT be accepted.
The University Bookstore stocks school and office supplies, greeting cards, EMU imprinted clothing and gift items, a variety of religious and general trade books including written materials by our own faculty and staff. Books and supplies not in stock may be ordered. Faculty/staff are given a 10% discount on all purchases over $1.00 excluding textbooks, candy, health and beauty, sale merchandise and academically discounted software.
The university registrar manages fall, spring and summer course registrations, annually publishes the undergraduate course schedule booklet and assigns classrooms for the undergraduate division.
